100 Word Challenge For Grown Ups – Week #57
My first ever 100WCGU entry!
This week’s prompt is …returning to the routine…
The cat awoke. He stretched out a paw and felt that familiar ache in his shoulders. He noticed the sun was low in the sky and the grass was white-tipped. Time to feed, time to hunt. He scanned the skies, returning to the routine of his predecessors. A bird flew soundlessly above his head and landed on the old stump. Aching joints momentarily forgotten, he considered pouncing: tail twitching, claws outstretched. The back door opened and the old lady put down a saucer, the smell of warm fish wafted towards him. Who was he kidding; it was going to be fish for breakfast!

That made me smile – we all think we can still do things that we did in our youth but sometimes our bodies let us down.
Awww, just when he was about to pounce! I like stories about animals — this is refreshing!
Yep, sounds just like me. At least my memories keep me going. This wasa decptively simple tale, wee told!
I love this (and cats 😉 ) Summed up those felines beautifully.
Cute! Why work for it if it’s handed to you? 🙂

My cat isn’t old, but I recognize a lot about her in here. Well told.
